The 2019 celebration of J.R.R Tolkien in New York City has begun!  The following details Tolkien events taking place at The Morgan Library and Museum and how YOU can win a pair of tickets to A Long Expected Party April 4th, 2019.

On January 25th 2019 the Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth exhibition opens at The Morgan Library and Museum, of which many events are being organized around it.

As you may already know from our events page, Wayne Hammond and Christina Scull are presenting “Tolkien and the Visual Image,” on 1/31 Tickets can be purchased here

 

In addition there are several gallery talks, art workshops and in March we have Tolkien Weekend NYC 2019 #TolkienNYC2019 beginning with The Morgan Library and Museum’s “Tolkien and Inspiration: A Multidisciplinary Symposium” taking place 3/16. Plus our own NY Tolkien Conference on 3/17. There are more details concerning these events to be announced very soon.

On April 4th 2019 The Morgan Library and Museum is hosting “A Long-expected Pary”

The Morgan invites Tolkien fans to a Shire-themed evening celebration of Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth. Enjoy Hobbit-inspired drinks in Gilbert Court along with live music and after-hours access to the Morgan’s exhibitions and the Historic Library. Tickets include museum admission and complimentary wine and beer. Costumes encouraged.Be a V.I.H. (Very Important Hobbit)! Enjoy special access to the exhibition before the party (6 PM), curator remarks, a champagne toast, and more!

Thursday, April 4, 7–9 PM

 

Tickets: 
$35; $25 for Morgan Members.
V.I.H. (Very Important Hobbit) tickets are limited and $100 each.

Celebrate the exhibition “Tolkien: Maker of Middle-earth” as a Shireling might: with Hobbit-themed drinks, live music, a marathon Tolkien reading, and after-hours access to the Morgan’s exhibitions and Historic Library. Costumes encouraged!
